Polish Canadian Commemorative Exhibition

The year 2023 has been established as the Year of Nicolaus Copernicus, because this year marks the 550th anniversary of his birth (February 19, 1473 - May 21, 1543). The Polish Heritage Foundation joined the celebration of the Year of Nicolaus Copernicus by organizing the Nicolaus Copernicus Life Knowledge Competition and Art Competition.

The first competition was intended for all interested parties and concerned knowledge from the life of Nicolaus Copernicus. Among the correct answers, we drew 3 winners who received gift vouchers worth $50 each. The winners were Janina Milanska, Kamila Le Gall and Michał Zagon.

Together with the W. Podoski Polish School of Ottawa, we also organized an Art Competition entitled “Birthday Card for Nicolaus Copernicus”. The winners in the following age groups were: up to 7 years - Simon Wozniak, 7-10 years - Emilia Jachyra, 10-14 years - Alina Borowiec. Each winner received $50  Indigo gift cards, and all participants received commemorative diplomas.

All works of art were sent to the Nicolaus Copernicus Museum in Torun, Poland.
